In a 2 hour return trip you can reach « L'OUVRAGE DU LIBRON », renovated in 1858. The Ouvrage du Libron is an engineering feat whereby the water from the Libron, a stream which has been known to produce devastating torrents, can flow over the canal via raised chambers and into the nearby ocean. It is also considered a lock, as there are two symetrical mobile sections.
You could also visit the " BASSIN ROND" at Agde, not only the only round lock on the Canal du Midi, but also in the whole world! Since 1680, it has regulated the service of 3 waterways.. A return trip of 4 hours.
Leaving to the left, in 1 hour you arrive at the Portiragnes locks, you cannot go through these with the bath'0 du Canal boats, but it is interesting to watch how the locks work.
You could rent a boat for the day and find a place on the banks of the Canal to have a picnic. Don't forget to tie up the bath'0 securely!
